Neptune or Poseidon is called the lord of the seas and oceans. This character is popular when conducting parties on the sea theme and on New Year's masquerades in both adults and children. From this article you will learn how to make a Neptune costume with your own hands.
How to sew a Neptune costume?
Neptune is a fictional character, so people imagine him the way he is shown in illustrations in books and cartoons (for example, in The Little Mermaid). But in his suit there are certain details that are in all models, because they are his distinctive feature. They include:
- trident;
- crown;
- tunic (bark);
- white long beard.
Trident manufacturing
It will take:
- cardboard - 2 sheets;
- food foil;
- glue;
- paper knife;
- insulating tape;
- long stick.
- Draw a tip on the cardboard. Cut out the workpiece and, drawing it on the second sheet, we get the second part.
- For strength, we wrap each part in several places with electrical tape, and then we connect with each other, except the bottom part.
- We insert a stick between the cardboard parts and wrap the tape with tape.
- Take the food foil and wrap it around the tip. So that it does not get messed up, we fix its ends with glue.

Sewing tunics and capes
It will take:
- fabric: white and blue (you can take a green or blue);
- seashells;
- blue ribbon;
- Velcro.
- From the white fabric, we cut out 2 rectangles according to the required dimensions and spend it as shown in the diagram.
- We take a blue cloth with a width of 60 cm and a length equal to two lengths of the finished tunic. We sew a piece on all 4 sides. In the middle (in length) we make folds and we spread.
- Cut out of a blue cloth rectangle width of 30 cm and a length equal to the waist circumference +5 cm. Crown making
The crown can be made different in shape and color. Most often, either an ordinary royal pointed headdress made of blue cloth, decorated with shells, or the golden crown of King Triton from the animated film "The Little Mermaid."
To make the first version of the crown, you should:
- Make a pattern and cut the blue fabric out of the blue fabric (by making the allowances for the bend on each side of 1 cm). The same detail should be made from glutinous material to seal the visors and connect to the fabric.
- According to the template, cut one more part without bending allowances and paste to the existing workpiece. On the bottom edge of stitching and gluing decorations. At the edges sew the Velcro to keep it on the head.

To make the second version of the crown, you will need:
- corrugated cardboard;
- paint - gold and silver;
- glue thermo gun;
- diadem;
- Scotch.
- By pattern, we cut out corona from the corrugated cardboard. To the edges are not disheveled, fix them with adhesive tape.
- Paint the workpiece first in silver, and then in gold color with the help of a spray gun. Not to get poisoned, it should be done in the fresh air.
- We take the old diadem and glue with a glue gun to its middle the cardboard blank. Then glue the sides.
- To avoid a diadem looking out from under the crown, the sides should not be pasted along the edge of the cardboard blank, but away from the edge 5-7 cm.
