When making verandas polycarbonate is often used. It is a polymer plastic that has become popular due to its low cost, versatility and relatively long life - more than 10 years.
It has a number of advantages over other types of materials that are used to make verandas:
- it protects from rain as much as possible;
- reliably protects against ultraviolet rays;
- has different light transmission capacity;
- is easy to install, not even a specialist will be able to make the glazing of the veranda polycarbonate;
- has a large selection of colors, your polycarbonate veranda will always differ from the neighbor;
- the possibility of manufacturing complex geometric structures.
All these qualities make the summer terrace of polycarbonate adapted for comfortable rest. In the veranda, completely closed with plastic sheets, it is possible to plant flowers in the winter, it is not for nothing that this material is successfully used for the arrangement of greenhouses .
Types of polycarbonate
Two types of polycarbonate are popular - cellular and monolithic. A canopy for a semicircular-shaped veranda is best made from cellular polycarbonate. It is a thin material from 4 to 40 mm, which consists of two or more sheets joined by special ribs of rigidity, it is more plastic than a monolithic one. Monolithic has a smaller thickness from 0.75 to 40 mm, but greater strength, transparency, has no bridges, similar to silicate glass. The roof for the veranda from this type of polycarbonate is better to make a flat.
Basic tips for glazing polycarbonate verandas
To ensure that the polycarbonate porch has served you for many years, you should observe a number of non-complex rules when creating a project and installing:
- If the roof of the veranda has the shape of an arch, then the radius of the bend should be 6 degrees;
- polycarbonate is covered with a protective film, it can be removed only after installation;
- the edges of cellular polycarbonate can not be left open, this will cause premature spoilage of the material, it is glued with a special aluminum tape or framed with a profile;
- if you are doing a saddle or a gable roof of the veranda do not make a very slight slope - this can lead to stagnation of water after precipitation;
- polycarbonate on the roof of the verandah and the walls are fixed at the assembly only by special thermowells, otherwise sheets can be damaged.
It is worth noting - the polycarbonate porch will last long enough and will not create a greenhouse effect only if all the installation and use rules are observed.
