A painful memory of the Soviet past

Pictures for the Polish tabloid are made by the famous German photographer Jürgen Teller according to the world fashion trends. According to the editor and Teller, they sought to make a reference to the cover of the magazine "Friendship" for March 1960 and create a post-Soviet aesthetics, which in recent years increasingly appears as a reference and iconic in the history of fashion. Polish models posing against the backdrop of the Warsaw Palace of Culture and Science next to the car of the brand "Volga" - these objects are associated with the Soviet era and are symbols of luxury of the old era, which is unacceptable in a democratic and European state.

The model itself Anna Rubik does not think that the photo session went beyond the fashion trends of the world, supporting the editorial board of the Polish magazine Vogue and the photographer. Recall that the girl comes from Poland, is among the 20 most highly paid models and accuse her of being biased and unprofessional - it is difficult.

One of the fashionable Polish critics so sketched out the current situation:

"Our outrage is not accidental and the association with the Soviet magazine arose not from scratch. We believe that there is nothing Polish in the new cover, except for the models. This is an unsuccessful cover, which is unacceptable for publishing such a level. Did the editors of the magazine not find professionals in Poland to adequately represent the tabloid? I'm sure they would have coped with the task better! "

Note that the fight against the post-Soviet past is quite painful in society. Talks about the demolition of the historical and architectural monument of culture have been going on for many years, but fortunately everything remains at the level of loud statements. Polish journalists note that the advertising campaign was originally built wrongly and without knowledge of the current target audience of the European state:

"Abroad, Poland is mistakenly perceived as a post-Soviet state, without taking into account the cardinal changes that have taken place and the implementation of the European format for building social relations. The middle class and the potential reader of the magazine have long moved away from the aesthetics of the Soviet era, it is ready for the world format, and not for low-quality covers from invited photographers.
