Shower cabin with own hands

What just did not use our grandparents in order to comfortably wash. These were the bowls, buckets and large wooden kadushki! Modern people have a much wider choice. All the methods and methods of our ancestors are far in the past, and we can gladly take water procedures at least several times a day.

People invented a shower cabin in order to save space. Also, this device is convenient enough to install in cottages and in country houses, where people do not spend most of their time.

Modern dacha owners have a wide choice of showers for their summer cottages. The shower cubicle can be purchased at the building store or designed and manufactured by yourself. In this article we will talk about how to make a shower cabin with your own hands.

How to make a shower for yourself?

At first glance, this task may not seem simple, but in fact, many people can make a shower with their own hands. The construction process consists of several stages:

  1. Choice of a place for a shower cabin. The shower should not be installed in a windy place. If the water for washing will be heated by sunlight, the place for the cabin must be in the sun. It is not recommended to place the shower in a low place so that moisture does not accumulate.
  2. Water tank. The drain must be located in the immediate vicinity of the shower tray. To make a drain, you need to organize a waterproof layer. The best materials for the waterproof layer are: PVC film, ruberoid, concrete screed. It is desirable to install a drain so that it is well ventilated - this avoids unpleasant odors and constant dampness.
  3. Drainage. Drain pit or container should be designed a few meters from the shower. If the drain is located next to the shower, then because of the constant dampness, the foundation will quickly collapse.
  4. The foundation for the shower. Regardless of what material will be used for a shower cabin - wood or metal, you need to design a foundation. Otherwise, the whole construction will be extremely unreliable. The foundation should be made of 1.5 meter metal pipes, which should be buried in the ground in such a way that about 20 cm remains above the surface. Pipes should be buried in the ground in four corners - a place for the pallet.
  5. Mounting the shower with your hands. The washing room in the dacha should be about 1 square meter. In this room, both the adult and the child themselves feel comfortable. Also, in the cabin should be allocated a place where you can hang things and a towel. Thus, the optimal dimensions for the shower are 100x160 cm. Further, on the foundation is established a hewn bar or metal sheets, which are fixed together.
  6. The floor in the shower. The floor can be made in two ways - solid or with gaps. The floor with gaps allows the water to drain under the shower and get into the drainage pit. When designing a continuous floor, an additional pipe should be installed along which the water will drain into the drain.
  7. Shower finish. For finishing, use moisture resistant materials - PVC film or plastic panels. Wooden shower should be pretreated with antiseptic.
  8. Installation of water supply. Wooden and metal showers for the dacha are supplied with water from large tanks, which are installed on the roof.

The installation of a shower cabin with their own hands, on average, takes from 2 to 10 days, depending on the level of training of the master. A shower cabin, made by own hands, is presented in the photo.
