Technique of embroidery ribbons

The technique of embroidery with ribbons does not differ much from the techniques of other types of embroidery. The main difference is that instead of the usual thread, a ribbon is used, and instead of a regular needle - a needle with a large eyelet, the size of the width of the tape. Also, patterns or ribbons embroidered with ribbons look much larger and more natural than embroidered thread.

How to embroider with ribbons?

So, we learn to embroider with ribbons on the example of a panel with roses.

For this masterpiece you will need the following materials:

1. Before embroidering flowers with ribbons, tightly fix the canvas on the embroidery frame. Then we begin to embroider a rose. From the yellow satin ribbon make a small bud. It is not difficult to do this: you have to fold the tape in half and roll it into a roll, while giving it a bud shape. Now we sew this bud to the canvas. Slide the free edge of the ribbon from the bud into the needle and proceed to embroider the remaining petals. To do this, form small loops from the tape, fasten them to the canvas, piercing the ribbon. To ensure that the ribbon petals lie accurately and evenly, they must be constantly leveled. Do not tighten embroidery, otherwise the canvas will be pulled together with it, and your panel will look ugly. In this way, embroider all the petals. Make a rose of the desired size. If you are not satisfied with the way the petals lie, correct them. For this, lightly grasp the edges with a thread in the tone of the tape.

2. When the basic rose is ready, we undertake embroidery of a stem and thorns.

We thread the ribbon in green and twist it a little in a spiral. Then we apply the tape to the canvas and sew it with green threads. For the manufacture of thorns, the tape in a few places is stretched out a little and tightly twisted, then we also sew it to the canvas.

3. Let's start with the leaves.

To make the leaves look beautiful and voluminous, we sew the tape with small stitches. In case the tape does not want to go down as you need, grab it lightly with a thread in the tone of the tape. And if you want the panel to look more bulky, you need to embroider leaves not only on stems, but around the flowers themselves.

4. Now let's add a couple of small buds to the composition.

We twist the yellow ribbon into the bud, while slightly bending out the upper edge. Sew the workpiece to the canvas and add a pair of petals to it. We make two such buds of different sizes.

5. To top it all off, you can add a few stitches with a ribbon of another shade, embroidered with threads of weed, decorate the composition with beads.

6. Your bulk embroidery with ribbons in the form of a panel of yellow roses is ready. Now just put it in a frame and hang it on the wall.
