However, it seems that Guillermo Del Toro can have quite serious problems. He, as a director and script writer, was accused of plagiarism! It turns out that in the distant 1969 the Pulitzer Prize winner Paul Zindel published a play called "Let me hear your whisper". The plot of the work surprisingly echoes the story told by Del Torro.
This information was made public by an open letter from the playwright's son, David Zindel, which was published in The Guardian.
In particular, in the text of the letter there is such a phrase:
"We are shocked by the fact that such a large and significant film company took the film into production without noticing such a clear similarity with the plot of my father's play. The film studio did not recognize this, and did not ask our family to get the rights to use the plot. "
