The breed of cats tegger can be considered the most exotic and, consequently, expensive. Some call these kosha tigers because of the characteristic tiger color, but this is not true, because the name "toyger" is derived from the English toy, that is, "toy."
The first cat of the breed, the toger, was bred in 1993 by the American breeder Judy Sagden. She had long dreamed of breeding a breed, the color of its representatives would resemble an elegant tiger. As early as 2007, the beautiful cat-toger had a sufficient set of characteristic features in order for the TICA association to recognize this breed.
At the heart of this breed is the Bengal cat. The other breeds that took part in breeding, added some small traits. Today in nurseries it is forbidden to knit togers with other cats, even with Bengal. Such kittens are not considered to be teegers. Interestingly, Judy Sagden's mother is the breeder Jane Mill, who managed to breed the Bengali breed. It is not surprising that Bengals became the prototype of the togers. Having created in her imagination a "sketch" of the future toger, Sagden chose for the breeding of this breed striped Bengal and several cats - nebengal.
Breed description
Toygers belong to large cats. Their skeleton is dense and strong, and musculature is quite developed. The body is slightly elongated, the legs and body are of medium size. The togers have long tails, the head is small, the muzzle is wide, long, has rounded contours. The color of the eyes in these cats is light green. But the main advantage is the color of the teegers, for which the breed and fell in love. A shiny short fur with dark red, brown or black marks of the "tiger tabby" just wins! According to the standard, the foot pads, as well as the tip of the tail, should be black only. Markings can be on the legs, abdomen and body. Around the muzzle of the cat, too, should be arranged in a circular pattern of stripes and markings.
If we talk about the nature of the representatives of this breed, then the teghers are cats who are faithful and loving. These are wonderful loyal companions who give caress to the owner, without requiring too much attention in return. Toygers easily adapt both in the apartment and in the house. For all their agility and strength, these cats have a calm disposition. Toygers - cats are very smart, sociable. Their distinguishing feature - branded kotyachi sounds, tweets and even trills. With other animals, teghers get along well, they love children. Toyger will never refuse to play with you. His playfulness and energy will be transferred to you.
