Cultivators for the garden are a kind of agricultural machinery designed for soil treatment, with the possibility of installing additional attachments. They differ depending on the engine power, the width of the grip of the working bodies, the functions they perform.

Mini-cultivator
The lightest models are mini-cultivators, which are intended for cottages, kitchen gardens and small plots of land. They have a small weight - up to 30 kg, a small volume of the engine - up to 4 liters, loosen the soil to a depth of up to 15 cm. As a rule, these models do not have a reverse. Due to the small size and width of the grip, it is very convenient for them to process a small area of land.
It should be noted that mini-cultivators are designed to handle normal soils. If you have to handle a site with heavy clay soil, they may not be able to cope with this task.

Rotary cultivator
The rotary milling cultivator has a structure that consists of strong steel plates with a square beam welded to a three-point hitch and a side-transaxle box. The milling cutters of the cultivator have gear wheels, which allow performing work even on wetlands and stony soils. Between the teeth there are gaps, so that even heavy soil does not clog between them. The equipment of modern rotary cultivators makes it possible to process soil in two layers to a depth of 45 cm. The technique has a working width of 3 to 6 m and is suitable for processing large areas of the earth.

The row cultivator is used for inter-row cultivation of various crops (carrots, beets , potatoes, lettuce and others) with the help of active milling tools. The technique is capable of performing such functions:
- removes weeds between rows of cultivated crops;
- Crushing the soil and breaking the formed crust on its surface, so that the roots of plants are better served by oxygen;
- leveling the soil, which makes it easier to harvest crops;
- has the ability to simultaneously make fertilizer, to plant the plants.
The cultivator has a high productivity, the speed of its operation reaches 6-20 km / h. With its help, processing fields and large areas of land.
