We are used to treating brick as a traditional material, which has long been used in the construction of buildings. Time has adjusted its release, limiting it to the standards. Now we are faced with modern types of bricks , selecting the one that experts recommend to us.
Basic types of bricks
- Ceramic brick . It is made of clay with the addition of various kinds of additives by the method of complete or partial roasting. A solid brick has few voids, it has high strength, so it is used for laying internal and external walls, erecting columns and other supporting elements. Hollow products, unlike full-bodied, are much easier. They are used in the construction of partitions and lightweight walls. Numerous voids increase its economy and thermal insulation properties.
- Silicate brick . The technology of manufacturing products includes the presence of such components as sand and lime with a small amount of additives (pigments) that undergo the autoclaving process. It absorbs moisture well, has increased density and low frost resistance, therefore requires a good foundation.
- Hyper-pressed brick . For its production, firing is not required. Products are formed under high pressure, resulting in a beautiful texture cracking and the ideal shape of the surface.
- Special brick . It is designed for special operating conditions. For example, the walls of furnaces and fireplaces that contact fire are laid with refractory bricks. At chemical enterprises use acid-resistant products. Clinker brick is ideal for paving paths in the garden, to decorate the socle, doorways and windows.
Types of facing bricks
- Products with a smooth surface . This brick is made standard size or reduced size. The quality material is hollow, evenly colored, has clear edges, has good frost resistance and thermal insulation.
- Textured brick . Has a relief pattern on the front surface, which is applied before firing. Clinker brick is sometimes decorated with mineral crumbs. Increased decorative qualities have types of bricks, which are processed by engobe or glaze application.
- Figured brick . This kind of material has bevelled corners, curvilinear faces and other elements that help to construct round columns, arches and other decorative elements without any difficulties.
Correctly selected brick serves as a pledge of durability of structures. There are brands that determine its density. The higher the brand, the better the product. Low-quality ceramic products are obtained when the technology is violated by underburning or burning.
