In order to avoid the unpleasant consequences of the harsh winter on your site, first of all you need to take care of the greenhouse. Construction of a winter greenhouse is often trusted by professionals, even if expensive factory designs can hardly fit into the budget. To avoid excessive spending, you can try to build a greenhouse yourself, and how to do it correctly we will consider in this article.
How to make a winter greenhouse with your own hands?
Most often, polycarbonate is used for the construction of winter variants of greenhouse premises. Winter greenhouses made of polycarbonate are cheap, durable and easy to assemble. The polycarbonate itself is two sheets of plastic connected by honeycomb-like honeycombs, which are sometimes filled with glass fiber. This design provides powerful shock and heat resistance, as well as protects against ultraviolet (due to the coating film).
Before building a winter greenhouse, we make calculations. This greenhouse measures 3x6 meters and is equipped with a window and door. The frame of the greenhouse is better to build from a profiled polymer or metal pipe with a cross section of more than 30 mm, for greater stability. We, in this example, will use polymer pipes fixed to 50 cm holders. Holders are located along the perimeter of the greenhouse at a distance of 1 m from each other.
The height of our greenhouse is 2 m and one 6 m of pipe (height * width = number of pipes) will be used for a single arch in the base of the construction, the same length for polycarbonate sheets, plus 5-10 cm of fixing holes.
The basis of the greenhouse is made of metal and is electrically welded.
Now go to the installation. To begin with, on a sheet of polycarbonate, standard sizes, we make markings.
Cut out the contours of scissors ...
... or an electric jigsaw.
The profiled and polymer pipe is fixed by electric welding around the perimeter.
And on the joints at the top.
Polycarbonate sheet is attached to polymer pipes using self-tapping screws.
For the construction of the end we outline the arch of the greenhouse on a solid polycarbonate sheet. We fix everything also with screws and afterwards we cut out the door.
The door can be made using metal profiles polycarbonate lined, or inserted ready-made. The ends are additionally pasted with adhesive tape in the corners.
We strengthen the metal frame in the ground with pegs, so that the greenhouse will be resistant to wind breakage. The construction of the winter greenhouse is over and now you can confidently meet the bad weather!
