Small child

It is necessary that mom or dad can always hear the baby crying and follow it even at night. Separate while functional areas can be a small rack without a back wall or a low partition. This will control the baby or the grown up child, even when you are in the other half of the room. At the same time, if your workplace used to be in the functional area of the bedroom, now you should transfer it to the living room or even to the kitchen, so as not to interfere with the child's sleep.
Adult child
A more adult child who attends a kindergarten or going to school needs more freedom and own space. And parents are no longer required to make great efforts to control what he does. Therefore, in this case it is worth to divide the functional zones somewhat differently: to combine the living room area and the parents' bedroom, and in the second half of the room to equip the nursery with the child's bed, a place for games and a full working area with a table and chair. It is possible to build a more solid partition between the halves, or use a rack with a closed backdrop or a thick curtain to separate the space. This will give the child a sense of "his" space, which is so necessary at his age.
