Allergy to the sun

Warm rays of the affectionate sun are loved by all people without exception. Of course, this is the physiology of man: the fact is that under the influence of ultraviolet, vitamin D is produced in the body of each of us. It allows us to deal with stress, apathy and prevent the development of such serious diseases as rickets, osteoporosis and arthritis.

But there is a disease that forbids people to stay for a long time under the influence of direct sunlight - photodermatosis, or, as they say in people, - a solar allergy.

Allergy to the sun - symptoms

This disease develops primarily in those people who have disrupted the work of the liver, kidneys or adrenal glands. Also, some owners of light skin suffer from the "sun allergy", because it has a weak ability to pigment.

In children, an allergy to the sun develops rarely: the exception is those children, one of whose parents suffered from this disease. The fact is that allergy refers to those diseases that are often caused genetically, and therefore, the risk of developing photodermatosis in such cases increases dramatically.

The main symptoms of allergies to the sun include:

  1. Appearance on the skin of red large spots with uneven borders after exposure to the sun. They can occur immediately, within an hour, or 20 hours after sunbathing.
  2. Appearance of itching in places of redness.
  3. In rare cases, attacks of bronchospasm are possible.
  4. A sharp drop in blood pressure.
  5. Loss of consciousness.

All these symptoms can manifest themselves in part, and each of them is not necessary for allergies to the sun. The main two symptoms of this disease are severe itching and redness of the skin, which are not life-threatening, but cause a lot of discomfort to allergic people.

Allergy to the sun - treatment

Treatment of this disease is reduced, mainly, to three points:

Medicines for topical use from sun allergies

In order to remove the itching and redness, apply ointment from allergies to the sun. This ointment should contain zinc (for the removal of inflammation and disinfection of the skin), as well as methyluracil or lanolin.

To remove a strong manifestation of allergies, it is recommended to use hormonal ointments or creams: they contain hormones of the adrenal cortex, due to which are more effective. However, it is not recommended to use them regularly.

To hormonal ointments are: fluorocort, flucinar, lorinden. These drugs are presented in several dosage forms.

Non-hormonal creams include элиidel and kutiveyt.

Preparations for allergies to the sun

Also for a full-fledged treatment, you need to take pills for allergies to the sun: in particular, antihistamines to relieve itching and redness, as well as anti-inflammatory drugs - aspirin or nimesil. It should be borne in mind that with a tendency to drug allergy and urticaria, aspirin should be avoided, as this medicine dilutes the blood, and with weak capillary walls it can give increased rashes.

Among antihistamines, well-proven: alerzin (contains levocetirizine, which, thanks to the levorotatory isomer, is more effective), cetirizine, suprastin.

Prevention of solar allergy

Prevention is of great importance in the treatment of allergies to the sun. First of all, you need to limit the time spent in the sun at noon, when solar activity reaches peak values. It is also desirable to wear spacious clothes made of natural fabrics without chemical dyes, so as not to create additional skin irritation. And one more important point in the prevention of this kind of allergy is to use a sun protection cream with a high level of protection: their coating will not allow the ultraviolet to contact the skin.
