In order to view your favorite TV shows without turning to the oculist, you need to know at what distance you can watch a specific TV model. However, you need to understand that if your room is small, but you want to install a plasma panel on the whole wall, then nothing good will come of this idea.


TV with cathode-ray tube

The most numerous models of TVs from all that are presented in the stores of home appliances - familiar to all designs, the image on their screens is projected by means of a cathode-ray tube. The distance from the TV of this model to the eyes should be at least 2-3 meters. If the distance is less, then you risk serious damage to your eyesight.

LCD, LED and plasma TVs

LCD (liquid crystal) and plasma TVs are considered the safest. When they are viewed, the eyes are not harmed by flickering, because it is completely absent. The safe distance to the LCD TV can be arbitrary, they do not have harmful radiation, so you can watch them from any convenient distance. There is no difference between the safe distance and the TV series from the LED series. This TV can also be viewed without fear of harmful radiation and flicker, which harms your vision.

As you could already understand, the optimal distance for viewing the TV directly depends on its model. After all, if you have an LCD or LED TV at home, the picture will be as clear as possible from any distance and from any angle.

But whatever your TV, you should know that if you sit right in front of the screen, nothing good will come of it. The safest distance for viewing the broadcasts on any TV set is considered to be equal to its four diagonals, which is usually about two meters. Western scientists came to this opinion after a number of experiments with volunteers. Despite the fact that these requirements are mainly addressed to the old models of radiant tube TVs, you still should not disregard your eyesight, viewing the TV shows too close to the screen.

3D TV: calculating the distance

You can watch movies in 3D format today without leaving your home. In order to fully immerse yourself in the events happening on the screen, it is recommended not to sit far from the TV, but will it not damage the vision? Experts assure that watching movies in 3D format absolutely does not harm the person's vision. The optimal distance to the 3D TV screen is an indicator equal to three meters, and the recommended angle of the TV should be within 60 °. If you follow these recommendations, then the effects of viewing video in 3D will be as close to what you could see in the cinema. Be sure to take into account the quality (resolution) of the video material. If the video resolution is up to 720p, then you should be from the screen at a distance of three meters, and if it is 1080p, then the most comfortable distance is about two meters.
