With the onset of autumn, the issue of preparing garden plants for winter, which includes their autumn top dressing, becomes topical for every grower.
2-3 weeks after harvesting, the root system begins to grow strongly in plants, which is able to assimilate fertilizers well. It is then and need to carry out their feeding.
Autumnal fertilizing of plants is necessary to provide them with the necessary nutrients in the winter rest period. In winter, a new tissue is formed, which provides subsequent growth during the growing season.
Starting in August, the use of fertilizers containing nitrogen should be excluded. Nitrogen can cause a prolonged growth of shoots. This significantly reduces the frost resistance of fruit bushes and trees.
The main fertilizers necessary for the autumn feeding of the garden are potassium and phosphorus.
It is effective to carry out top dressing with superphosphate, which is simple (with a phosphorus content of 20%) and double (with a phosphorus content of 42-49%). Preferably, double superphosphate is used, since it leaves a small amount of ballast substances in the soil. Phosphorus-containing fertilizers should be introduced into the earth to a depth of 10 cm for fruit crops and 7 cm for fruit crops.
It is very good to carry out fertilizing with such fertilizer as potassium phosphate or monopotassium phosphate. It contains 34% of potassium and 52% of phosphorus. Since fertilizer is ballastless, it is used by plants without residue.
Useful for trees and shrubs feeding is calimagnesia, a fertilizer that besides magnesium also contains magnesium (11-18%). They fertilize the near-root circle of plants.
In addition, fruit bushes and trees are very useful to fertilize with humus.
Autumn feeding of apple and pear
Autumnal fertilizing of these trees is carried out several times. Nitrogen is allowed to be brought in for the last time until mid-September.
Top dressing of apples is carried out with the help of radical application of fertilizers containing phosphorus and potassium. In addition, it is desirable to make and calcium. If there is an increased acidity of the soil, lime is introduced into the soil.
Pears are also fed with potassium and phosphorus. You can cook complex fertilizer yourself.
For 10 liters of water:
- 2 tablespoons granular superphosphate;
- 1 tablespoon of potassium chloride.
Fertilizer is introduced into the trunks.
You can also feed the pear and ash.
How to feed the earth in the fall?
In order for the plants to get the nutrients they need in the fall, it is necessary to feed the soil with necessary fertilizers. Feeding of the earth is carried out with such organic fertilizers:
- manure (contributes to the increase of soil fertility, it is introduced when digging the earth every 2-3 years.) The fertilizer norm for manure per hundred square meters is 300-400 kg);
- peat (sometimes it is a highland and lowland , often used as an integral part of the compost);
- ash
(fertilizing is carried out once in 3-4 years, when an autumn digging is carried out); - compost (its application ensures fertility of the soil, the norm is 3-4 kg per 1 sq. m.);
- siderates (these are leguminous plants - clover, lupine, alfalfa and cereals - oats and rye).
Mineral fertilizers include potassium, nitrogen, lime and manganese fertilizers.
Proper carrying out of additional fertilizing of fruit bushes and trees and soil will allow you to keep plants in the garden healthy and able to bear fruit in subsequent years.
