The modern kitchen interior often involves having a bar counter or even a mini bar. It can be located in the kitchen, and can serve as a dividing element between the kitchen and the living room, if you have a studio apartment. And I must say that the kitchen bar itself - it's not so difficult. The main thing is to set a goal and plan everything in advance.
Making a bar with our own hands
Before you make a bar yourself, you need to think about its design and determine the future location. It is advisable to allocate a place for it at the repair stage, so that it harmoniously blends in with the atmosphere as much as possible.
So, for our stationary bar counter for a house made by own hands, we will need such materials:
- wooden bars (edging boards) 1-1.2 m in length and 5 cm in thickness;
- plywood sheets, veneer, fiberboard;
- carving nails and self-tapping screws 3,8 and 5 cm;
- joiner glue;
- decorative skirting boards, moldings, carved brackets;
- stain, wood varnish, two-component epoxy resin.
The standard dimensions of the bar are 105-110 cm in height. Under it you can easily pick up bar stools. First we need to build the foundation of our future bar counter. To do this, cut out the bars of the necessary size, tightly join them with nails. For the frame all the bars should be of the same length and set strictly vertically. To achieve this, you need to use the level.
Then we trim the frame with veneer, plywood or sheets of fiberboard. In our case, this is oak veneer. We use 3.8 cm for self-tapping.
Now fasten to the counter top using nails or self-tapping 5 cm. The width of the countertop is 45 cm. At the same time, there should be a canopy on the part of the seated - about 20-25 cm. From the bottom for additional support we install brackets made of wood or metal. The facade is decorated with moldings, plinths or any other decorative elements. This can be done with the help of carpentry glue.
On the inside of the rack we will make shelves 30 cm wide. And then cover the entire structure with stain and two layers of varnish. Each applied layer should dry well for a minimum of 2 hours. Instead of varnish, you can use epoxy resin.
For beauty, we add a few carved brackets from the side of the facade and from the ends. In the finished form, our home bar, made with our own hands, looks very attractive.
