Bisexuality

Since childhood we have been taught that love is possible only between a boy and a girl, and same-sex relationships stand outside the law. We grew up, everyone had their own opinion about adherents of same-sex love, but here bisexuality traditionally causes many people bewilderment. Is it really normal to treat both sexes as sexual partners?

The causes of bisexuality in men and women

Initially, bisexuality was considered only from the point of view of physiology. We are talking about hermaphrodites, people who possessed both male and female sexual characteristics. In the Middle Ages, such people were considered to be the product of the devil and executed. Later, people of the "middle class" stopped persecuting and began to make operations, leaving the same sex.

If we talk about bisexuality as an erotic preference, then a great contribution to the study of this phenomenon was made by Sigmund Freud. Before him there was an opinion that a person is already born with a certain sexual attitude. Freud also suggested that unconsciously all people are bisexual, that is, in every person since birth there are both male and female psychological structures. In most cases, as you grow up, everything that is associated with the opposite sex biological is being pushed out. Large-scale research in this area was conducted by A. Kinsey, who found that bisexuality is not a rare phenomenon - about 28% of girls and 46% of men had a sexual attraction or had an erotic experience with members of their own sex.

Is bisexuality normal?

Despite all the research, scientists still can not understand which group should be considered bisexuality - to psychological deviations or individual characteristics of development. Some experts even doubt the existence of female or male bisexuality, considering it a transitional stage from traditional sexual orientation to homosexual. Although most still tend to attribute the erotic interest to the representatives of both sexes to a separate sexual orientation, rather than a way to conceal their homosexual inclinations. Well, as to whether it is normal for such a sexual attraction or not, it's up to each to decide for herself.

Test for female bisexuality

And how do you know if a person is bisexual? In appearance, this is unlikely to be determined, it will take thoughtful psychological testing, conducted by a specialist or independently. There is not one test to identify signs of bisexuality. Some tests determine the model of behavior that is characteristic of the person and on the basis of these data speak of traditional or non-traditional sexual orientation. Others suggest analyzing their sexual behavior, fantasies, desires and preferences to clarify the issue of their own bisexuality. It is more rational to use tests from the second group, since a lot of heterosexual men and women have behavioral patterns peculiar to people of the opposite sex.

To determine your inclination to this or that type of sexual orientation, answer the following questions.

The more questions you get from positive answers ("yes", "yes rather than no"), the higher the probability of your bisexuality. If you say "no" to all the questions, then you are 100% heterosexual. Although such answers can also talk about problems in the sexual sphere, and about the too low level of sexual attraction to any gender.
