Facing bricks give the house an incredibly attractive look, especially if the work is done carefully. This skill is learned for many years. There are several types of brick masonry . It is advisable to study them in detail before starting work and choose the one that is most suitable for your home.
Masonry cladding by own hands
- For an even laying, we can not do without a building level and a square metal rod that will help to straighten the seams. To work with bricks it is necessary to prepare a hammer-pick and a Bulgarian, as well as a trowel and a thread. You should consider purchasing an anchor or a building mesh.
- Prepare the socle. At the level, we check the surface of the socle and, if necessary, level it with a solution of cement.
- We mix the solution. We work in small portions of the solution, which is prepared from a mixture of cement (M500) with sand (1: 4). It is necessary to take into account the fact that water containing many salts contributes to the formation of highlands.
- We stack the bottom row. Leaving a gap for ventilation, we lay bricks along the perimeter of the building. We control the distance between them, which should correspond to a value of 8-10 mm. To make it easier to manipulate the width of the seams, some masters do not use the solution in the bottom row.
- Spread the corners. Lay the corners to the height of several brick rows (4-6). We use a square rod, which occupies a place along the edge of the lower row. Then we apply the solution and level it. We put the brick on the mortar until it touches the twig, while helping with the handle of the trowel. We remove the stick and remove the traces of the solution. Do the same work from both sides of the corner, not forgetting the bandaging of bricks.
- Wall covering:
For feathering, you need a feather (5cm) and a brush 50mm wide.
- The work begins with the tension of the auxiliary thread, which will serve as a guide. We fix it on the laid out corners between the bricks.
- Using the twig, we apply the solution to the bottom row.
- The end of the brick is covered with a mortar and laid on the lined solution.
- We move along a string, we help ourselves with a pickax or a trowel, and we do not forget about the bandaging of bricks. We constantly control ourselves by level after we remove the stick. For reinforcement we use a grid.
- The wall will look more beautiful if you pick up a brick of a different shade. We use the bouncing method of laying, using anchors for binding.
- The space between the wall and the lining is filled with mortar with pieces of brick.
- Remove the remains of the mortar from the masonry and wet it with water. We prepare the working solution and fill them with seams. Using the bar, expand them first vertically, then horizontally
- With a brush, we remove the grains of sand from the bar.
Forming the first clutch brick cladding their own hands, it is better to avoid rapid movements, focusing on the quality of work.
