Artificial lighting by electric light is a young man's invention. Prior to this, the houses were lit up most often with candles. For convenience, candles were put in candlesticks and candelabra. In each house, candlesticks were the main elements of the interior. People have not forgotten about candles until now, although modern life is difficult to imagine without electricity and various electrical engineering. But technology is a technique - it is peculiar to break down, fail. The switching-off of light happens quite often for different reasons - knocks out the automatic device of the electric meter, small and large failures in electric systems. For such cases, simple stearic candles are stored in each house. It is convenient when they are in each room in their place, then in the dark they do not have to be looked for. Stand for candles can be anything, but if you make original candlesticks with your own hands, even a simple candle will become an ornament of the house.
What can I make a candlestick from?
The principle of the candlestick is very simple: the candle should stand steadily during burning and there must be a place where hot wax flows. For stability, the candles are tightly inserted into something, or put on a pin. The candlestick can be made from anything: it can be any object of stable shape from heat-resistant non-combustible material. It's better if it's metal, stone, porcelain, clay, glass. Soft and fragile materials (a burning candle can fall) and those that, when heated, emit harmful substances: rubber, PE and plastics, will not do.
How to make a candlestick?
Candlesticks are divided according to where the candles are placed. It can be fixed on top of the object, in this case the candle gives more light, and you can put it inside, then the candle flame will be weak, soft, diffused. Such candlesticks are now very popular, because candles are often lit not just for light, but for creating a special atmosphere and mood during the holidays, taking baths, meditating.
You can make a candlestick from:
- openwork carved watermelon, pumpkin, zucchini. They paint with colors and cover with acrylic lacquer. You can also cut out jars of coffee, baby food, beer;
- elegant candlesticks from cans, glasses, transparent vases, laboratory utensils are obtained. You can not take crystal and wine glasses from thin glass.
You can also decorate them in different ways:
- apply glue on the glass (liquid glass) and roll the can along the beads, bugles, sparkles;
- paint with hairspray with sparkles and glue flowers from kapron, organza, transparent wrappers of chocolates, tulle, beads or buttons;
- Draw the drawing with transparent vintage paints for glass;
- you can try to make a fairy-tale house-candlestick. To do this, you need banks for baby food and the same
colorful pictures of the house. A rectangular box and a roof with a pipe are bent from the cans, doors and windows are cut out with a stationery knife. Paste pictures and the house is ready. They put it on a metal tray. Candles put inside, removing the roof. You can make such a candlestick from a bottle of large size from under the water or glass. The top is cut with a glass cutter, the edges are peeled off and make a roof out of it. If desired, the details of the house can be made from salted dough, polymer clay, papier-mache. Such a candlestick will be a wonderful decoration of a children's room or serve as a lamp in a dacha, because there is not electricity everywhere.
