Charleroi is a beautiful city in Belgium , in which each street is already a tourist attraction. There is a beautiful architecture, picturesque nature, and besides there are structures that tourists from all over the world come to see.

What to see in Charleroi?

  1. Basilica of St. Christopher . This masterpiece of Baroque architecture is located in the heart of the city, opposite the Town Hall on Charles II Square. It was erected in the distant 1722 year. Than in the first place it is necessary to admire, having gone to the temple, so this is a mosaic created from millions of pieces of colored glass.
  2. Museum of Fine Arts . One of the most famous museums in Belgium . Here is a large collection of Belgian paintings of the 19th century. In addition, the museum presents the creations of such famous artists as C. Meunier, P. Delvaux, G. Dumont and many others.
  3. The Museum of Photography is no less attractive attraction of Charleroi.   5. The Glass Museum is located near the Palace of Justice. By the way, once this city was famous for its glass industry. Now, visiting the museum, you can see the shining crystals of the 19th century, Venetian glass, art nouveau creations and many other interesting things.
  6. Cartier Castle is located in Charleroi, Hainaut province. This beauty was created in 1635. However, in 1932, most of it was burnt, but in 2001 local authorities completely restored the monument of military architecture and now there is a public library here.
  7. The square of Albert I looks a little communist, but this is all its charm. It conventionally divides the city into lower and upper. Also, do not forget to admire the main shopping street Montagne, which will take you to Charles II Square in the upper city, and from there you can get to the Town Hall and the aforementioned St. Christopher's Basilica.
