Church of St. George

The Church of St. George's Church, located in Grenada , in the capital of St. George's is a true work of art in the Gothic style. Moreover, it is one of the oldest sights of this political and economic center of the island.

What to see?

Architectural beauty was built in the distant 1819. Its main feature is the clock tower, which, by the way, was erected much later than the main part of the building - in 1904. Today, every tourist can hear how urban chaos fades in minutes, when a local bell makes a bell ringing.

It is impossible to tear your eyes from a powerful tower and no less attractive arches, and stained glass and unique floor tiles will necessarily have a pleasant emotional impact on your guest. Inside the rows of slender pillars create the feeling that the whole church seeks skyward. Thanks to this, when you are in the main hall, it seems that the space here has no boundaries. And behind the chapel is broken a colorful garden, always pleasing with flowering shrubs.

True, the church of St. George in 2004 was partially destroyed by hurricane "Ivan". Of course, the local attraction is gradually restored, but, after 12 years after the horrific event, due to lack of financial resources in the budget of Grenada , the restoration was never completed. Fortunately, the restored part of the building functions and gladly accepts new tourists. In addition, it provides services and classes for schoolchildren. To visit you do not need to call anywhere and book a tour - the doors of the church are always open to its visitors.
