Fort Frederick (St. Georges)

The eastern entrance of the port of Karenazh in the city of St. Georges is adorned by Fort Frederick, built on the initiative of the Danish government in the 17th century to protect the country's borders from possible European invasions. The fort is known for its excellent panoramic views that open to the southwest coast of Grenada .

What to see?

Architects, working on the creation of the fort, divided it into several levels. The first of them contained storage for gunpowder and various weapons. On the second one there is a reservoir with water, containing about 100 thousand liters, which was necessary for the case of the siege of the fort. The third level of Fort Frederic is dotted with tunnels, in addition, there are barracks where servicemen of the garrison lived.

Unfortunately, in our days the strengthening is in a sorry state. Weather conditions every year more and more destroy Fort Frederick. The state authorities of Grenada , wishing to preserve the landmark, created a charity fund that collects funds for its restoration.

How to get there?

The most convenient way to reach the sights is by car. To do this, you need to move on the Yang Street, and then turn to Cross Street, where is the Fort Frederick.
