A beautiful flower, pleasing us with its flowering in winter, is found in almost all houses, but many call it differently. Decembrist, Christmas, Schlumberger truncated, Varvarin color, Zigokaktus - these are all its names. It is an epiphytic bush of the cactus family that came to us from the humid tropical forests of Central and South America, where it grows in trees, releasing its roots in cracks in the cortex in which nutrient humus accumulates.
Although the flower is Decembrist and unpretentious in the care , but knowing the rules of its reproduction is simply necessary for successful growing at home.
How to breed a flower Decembrist?
There is only way to reproduce the Decembrist - cuttings.
Cuttings for this can be obtained in several ways:
- cut off the stalk stem, consisting of two, and preferably three links. It must be done so that the cutting site is as thin as possible. But this method is best not to use;
- carefully examined his flower, in a place where young, still fragile links end, and old ones begin, often there are aerial roots. Here you can simply break off or unscrew a part of the stem with roots by rotating movements;

- From 2-3 hours to 2-3 days, drizzle drying, if it was cut, then wait for the film to appear.
- Take a pot of any soil and moisten it well.
- Plant the cutting, not deepening the existing roots (not more than 1 cm in depth). To pets do not move it, it is recommended to pin to the ground.
- For successful rooting of cuttings, the pot should be placed in a room with moderate lighting, high humidity and a temperature of + 15 ° С-20 ° С, should be watered regularly,
