Deer Island

Ile-o-Cerf, or Deer Island , is located off the east coast of Mauritius . Once upon a time there were many deer on this island - hence it got its name. Today it is decorated with secluded coves, waterfalls, rocks, virgin forests and a diverse flora and fauna. Every year the island is visited by many tourists. It can be reached by boat, a rented yacht and even a catamaran, as it is located very close to the coastline of Mauritius.

Amazing is the fact that the island belongs to the Toussrok hotel, so the infrastructure on it is developed quite well. In addition, the hotel itself provides a full range of services related to the rest on the island.

Weather

The weather on Deer Island is no different from Mauritius . You can visit it all year round, light east winds do not spoil the rest at all, but on the contrary create excellent conditions for water entertainment, especially surf. Cyclones here are rare guests and pass quickly, so they also do not need to beware. The temperature at different times of the year is slightly different: the hottest in the midst of winter is 32-33 ° C, the coolest weather keeps in the middle of the year - 23-25 ° C. Water in the summer is several degrees warmer, so the desire to buy appears much more often.

Excursions and attractions

The main attraction of the Deer Island is its nature, so the groups of tourists primarily go to the South-Eastern river, there they are waiting for the most beautiful waterfalls. Then the tour continues on the ground, all planted on white sands, which are surrounded by black rocks. Turquoise water dilutes the panorama in contrasting colors. Among the wild forests of the island you will be introduced to the flora and fauna of plants. A short walking tour turns into a small trip into the world of nature. After climbing a low slope, you will have a beautiful view of the ocean and the main island. Also, you should definitely visit the bays, where clear water allows you to watch the life of marine life from the rocks.

Entertainment

There are a lot of entertainments on the island, but they are all active and sporting. But you have the opportunity under the supervision of professionals to master any of the types of water sports:

Get training and prepare for active rest can still be in Mauritius, but really feel the taste of thrill can only be on the Deer Island. Also this place is a real paradise for diving enthusiasts. In the bays there are a lot of centers where you will be helped to descend under the quiet surface of the water and explore the underwater world of the island.

Also on the island there is a beautiful 18-hole golf course, which was designed by the most titled golf professional in Europe - Bernard Langer. The field is located among hills, lakes and amazing tropical plants. It occupies 38 of 87 hectares of the island. All 18 holes are located so that athletes during the game could admire the ocean. The field is of great interest for fans and golf professionals, as Bernard Langer has invested in him all his love for the cause of life and made it even more interesting thanks to the many sand traps and ponds surrounded by trees. Play here is not just interesting, but even exciting!

Hotels

It's amazing that there are no hotels and even bungalows on the Deer Island. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it is very near the east coast of Mauritius, where hotels are more than enough. Get them to the island will not be the slightest effort. Boats run to it regularly, besides, you can rent any water transport and get there on your own. The closest hotel to the island is Le Touessrok 5 *, but the prices for accommodation there are quite high. A more economical option is renting apartments and bungalows in the town of La Place Belgath: there you can rent apartments from 16 to 106 cu per day.

Restaurants

Mostly there are restaurants with traditional national cuisine on the island, but there is an establishment, in the menu of which only French dishes are represented - Paul & Virginie. The restaurant is located on the beach, and several of its small verandas are located directly on the water. Transparent floor, under which you can see the ocean and its underwater world, look very impressive. As in any French restaurant, the institution has a rather large wine list.

Speaking of a restaurant with a national cuisine, the first place is the restaurant La Chaumière Masala, in the menu of which only dishes of classical Indian cuisine. This is also a great place for lunch, as the time of its work is from 12:00 to 17:00.

Next to the amazing golf course is a bar for lovers of water sports and golf - Paul et Virginie & Sands Bar. It serves familiar dishes with a national note: pizza with Mauritian spices, shrimp on the grill, salads and much more.

On the shore of the "Lagoon of Quiet Water", in which is located the Deer Island, is one of the best restaurants in Mauritius. If you sailed on a catamaran or a leased boat, then you definitely need to have lunch there. It is located quite close to the island, the road will take no more than 5 minutes. The Three Nine Eight restaurant is located in the five-star Le Touessrok hotel, it is one of several facilities of its kind at the hotel.

The last restoration of Le Touessrok was in 2002 and its budget was $ 52 million. It is a refined and luxurious place. Several architects worked on it at once: Mauritian and South African. The restaurant Three Nine Eight consists of three levels, which represent the cuisine of nine different cultures: Mauritian, Indian, Chinese, Thai, Italian, Spanish and French. It's amazing that over the cooking of each of the eight cuisines professionals work in this particular direction of cooking, so you can watch the work of the cooks right from the hall! A visit to the restaurant reminds of a culinary journey: it concerns not only the interior, but also the variety of dishes.
