Disco Bay

The most famous, unusual and beautiful place in Greenland is the Disco Bay. On its one side is the island of the same name, and on the other side the small towns of Aasiaaat, Ilulissat, Kasigiannguit and Okaatsut. In 2004, part of the bay, namely near Ilulissat, was listed as a UNESCO. The landscapes of Disco Bay are really beautiful. They combine real winter cold and snow-white island-icebergs, around which sometimes float large ships.

Awesome pond

The northern part of Disko Bay in Greenland is almost always covered with ice. This factor prevents him from connecting with the sea. Local residents called the reservoir "the country of icebergs", because it constantly moves thousands of ice floes of different sizes. In general, the weight of ice floes is 30 tons and it's terrible to think what will happen if they slip to the side of settlements.

In summer, Disco Bay is especially beautiful. At this time, the icebergs seem to shine from the sun's rays and become almost transparent. The main inhabitants of the pond were whales, walruses, penguins and bears. Bears, by the way, are relatively few here, but walruses create whole flocks. Because of the large number of whales and sharks, it is dangerous to move around the bay on a boat. Only large ships enter the pond and then very rarely. Many scientists conduct their studies on the shores of the Gulf and create special structures for northern animals.
