Museum of Chocolate (Prague)

Prague , the capital of the Czech Republic , is one of the oldest cities in Europe. There is a huge number of attractions , one of which is the Chocolate Museum (Choco-Story Chocolate Museum). History of the Museum

In the building where the "sweet museum" is now located, during its entire existence, and this is almost 2600 years, many renovations and renovations were carried out. The style of construction varied from early Gothic to modern Rococo. At the beginning of the 16th century, the peacock figure was fashioned on the facade of the building, which at that time served as a house sign replacing the current numbering of houses. In 1945, the building was severely damaged in the fire, but later it was restored. It was possible to preserve the distinctive house sign - that same white peacock. The Museum of Chocolate in Prague, which is a branch of the Belgian, was re-opened on September 19, 2008.

What is interesting about the chocolate museum?

At the entrance, each visitor to the museum is offered a glass of hot chocolate or a tile. In a small building there are three halls:

  1. In the first, visitors will get acquainted with the history of cocoa and its appearance in Europe.
  2. In the second room you will find an interesting story about the origin of chocolate and the beginning of its production. After that, you can personally participate in the process of making chocolate, following the Belgian technology, and then taste your creation.
  3. In the last, a showroom, a unique collection of chocolate wrappers and packages is collected.

In the "sweet museum" is presented a large collection of various dishes, which are used by masters during the preparation of chocolate sweets. Also here you can see a lot of culinary devices: a knife used for cutting cocoa beans, a hammer for sugar splitting, various molds for casting tiles and sweets and many others. All exhibits have signatures, including in Russian.

The museum of chocolate provides an excursion for children and entertainment, which is called The Choclala game. Each child entering the museum is given a blank sheet and eight cards that need to be correctly placed on paper. Leaving after the excursion, the children present these sheets and, if the cards were located correctly, this child receives a small gift.

How to get to the chocolate museum in Prague?

It is easy to get there: on trams Nos. 8, 14, 26, 91 it is necessary to follow the routes to the stop Dlouha trida, and if you go to one of the trams Nos. 2, 17 and 18 - at the Staroměstská stop. Because of the difficulties with parking it is better not to use the car. However, if you nevertheless came to the museum by car, the nearest underground parking is in the Kotva Department Store.

The Chocolate Museum in Prague is located at Celetná 557/10, 110 00 Staré Město. It works from 10:00 to 19:00 seven days a week. The ticket for an adult costs 260 CZK, which is approximately $ 12.3. For students and elderly people, the ticket costs 199 CZK or about $ 9.
