Durian Waterfall

In the north-east of Langkawi Island , 16 km from the city of Kuah there is one of the most beautiful sights of Malaysia - Durian Falls. Lost among the jungles and rocks, far from popular tourist places, the waterfall attracts travelers with breathtaking landscapes, lush vegetation, cool mountain gorge and, of course, the magnificence of overthrown cascades.

Uniqueness of a natural object

Durian Waterfall is one of the three major waterfalls of Langkawi Island. It consists of 14 natural and fairly extensive cascades of water that descend down the slope of Mount Gunung Raya, forming along the way pools with crystal clear water. A special atmosphere is created by the surrounding scenic area with coconut and banana palms, five-meter ferns and bamboos.

Nearby is a farm with exotic fruit trees - durian, in whose honor the waterfall was named. In addition, there are many monkeys in the district. An excursion to the Durian waterfall on Langkawi Island can be combined with a visit to the village of Air Hangat, the hot springs of Kampung Ayer Hangat and the Black Sand beach . After a long climb to the top of the waterfall, you can relax at a local cafe and look into souvenir shops. Getting to know the attraction is completely free.

How to get there?

Usually, Durian falls to the waterfall as part of organized sightseeing tours. You can get there yourself by taxi, on a rented car or bike from Kedah through Jalan Ayer Hangat / Route 112. This is the fastest route, which takes about 20 minutes. Transport can be left in the free parking at the foot of the waterfall. Next you will have a rather long walk to the very top on foot with overcoming rapids.
