Fireproof doors

Fireproof doors are far from the usual doors in their construction. They contain a whole system of fireproof elements that reveal their potential in critical situations. For example, they have a fireproof sealer that, when the temperature rises higher than the prescribed, increases the volume and fills all the cracks and gaps in the doorway, so as not to let into the room acrid smoke. In addition, fire doors are equipped with all kinds of fittings and automation.

Design features of fireproof doors:

The fire resistance of fire doors is the most important indicator. It implies the ability of the door to maintain its properties under the influence of high temperatures and thereby prevent the penetration of fire into the room. Depending on how long the door can resist the fire, they are divided into several classes of fire resistance. This division takes place according to the following criteria:

• E - indicates the loss of performance of the fire time period from 30 to 120 minutes;
• I - indicates that the door can prevent the penetration of heat in the opposite direction from 30 to 120 minutes;
• W - indicates how long the glass structure can hold the heat flow on the opposite side, measured in minutes from 30 to 120;
• S - indicates how long the structure can prevent the penetration of smoke, measured in minutes.

By the degree of resistance to fire all the doors are divided into three classes:

1. The design can resist fire for up to 30 minutes.
2. The resistance range of such doors is 30-60 minutes.
3. Doors of this class can contain the spread of fire within 60-90 minutes.

For different types of premises there is a fire resistance class for doors, it must meet the requirements of fire safety. It is necessary to follow these requirements, because human life depends on it in case of a dangerous situation.

Types of fire doors

All fireproof doors differ in the material of manufacture: they can be wooden with special impregnation, metal (steel, aluminum), glass. Let's consider them a little more:

1. Steel fire doors are good because they do not lose their useful properties for many years. They are made of a profile pipe, the thickness of the profile is not less than 2 mm. Additional strength is provided by metal bands located all along the perimeter. Strong profile provides protection from fire and from breaking. Such doors are filled with a thermal insulator (mineralized slabs or batting), foam foams are additionally used, which guarantees an optimal level of insulation.
2. Glass fire doors are no less in demand than steel doors . Their leaves are made of silicate glass, which is not afraid of fire and mechanical damage. Typically, these doors and partitions are installed in apartments and offices to ensure better lighting of the room and its visual expansion. As an insulation, anti-inflammatory silicone strips are used.
3. Wooden fire doors , in contrast to conventional wooden, have a stronger frame, as well as impregnated with a special composition. Such designs are perfectly resistant to fires. Sealed strips and sealant on the perimeter of the canvas with the slightest threat of danger foam and fill all the cracks, not allowing the spread of smoke and heat.
4. Fireproof aluminum solid and glazed doors are a design of several interconnected profiles. Their surface is treated with flame retardant materials.
