Ghost Glazier: The story of a poltergeist, seen by everyone

Ghost, smashing windows of houses and cars, saw dozens of people around the world. That's what they say about him.

In the history of paranormal phenomena, there are many more "modest" visitors, about the emergence of which knew one or two people than "barabashki", loudly declaring themselves before hundreds of witnesses. One of the most restless ghosts is the Ghost Glazier, whose very existence was fixed by both the Soviet and American special services. But none of them could find a scientific explanation for his tricks ...

The History of the Ghost Glazier

The first recorded visit of the ghost to the United States occurred in 1954. On April 12, the popular Life magazine came out with a note about an "invisible pest" that broke 1500 windows in the state of Washington in a week. Catch a bully, as well as calculate the instrument of the crime failed. The archives preserved only part of the text of that news:

"In the city of Bellingham, someone invisible in one week broke more than a half thousand glasses. Especially got cars, in which the glass flew right on the run. And never were found the objects by which this was done. Specialists have put forward many hypotheses, ranging from cosmic vibrations and ending with sound waves from the exhaust pipes. But not one version explained all the facts. The fact is that the holes appeared not only in the glass, but also in the doors of cars, and even in the upholstery of the seats. "

Perhaps the newspaper would quickly forget about the strange incident, if in three days the police of Seattle did not search for the violators of public order, who broke all the windows in the central streets of the city and the glass in cars parked there. The chief of police even wrote an appeal to residents in a local newspaper with a promise to catch those who made the riots. They initiated an examination of broken glass, which still could not find at least a more or less logical explanation for the strange antics of the poltergeist. Exactly three days later the "glass attack" was repeated - this time in Ohio. The hooligan-recidivist was wanted on the whole territory of America.

Very quickly, the police became angry with the invisible, because he almost provoked popular unrest. On his pranks without stopping complaints from residents of Los Angeles, Chicago, Cleveland and Kentucky. Local sheriffs were raising their hands: how can you catch a criminal if the glass seems to explode in front of dozens of eyewitnesses, as if by magic?

Soon news of the shattering windows of houses and cars came from Italy and Canada. The New York Police Department came up with the idea of looking for the tracks of the Phantom Glazier in other countries. The answer came quickly and immediately struck the imagination: the USSR was not at all surprised by its existence, because the inhabitants of tsarist Russia knew about it. In the autumn of 1873 a noble family from St. Petersburg arranged a party for the guests, at which the guests heard a string of cotton. When they stopped, it became clear that something had broken all the windows. And, as if the hole was carved by a diamond rod. The glazier, summoned by the owners of the house in the morning, was not at all surprised at what had happened: it turned out that he had not for the first month removed the traces of the Privy Glazier's pranks throughout the city.

Soviet officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, known to the whole world as atheists, had to send to colleagues from the US data on the urban legend that has been walking around Petersburg since the 17th century. There was a master in those days, obsessed with the idea of creating a tool for cutting glass, capable of making holes with even edges. When he succeeded, he showed colleagues the work of his invention, but was ridiculed by them. The angry master went to the window and slapped it with his palm so that the same hole immediately appeared in it. After which he dissolved into the air and was never seen. The mending glasses in prerevolutionary Russia masters always thanked him for the opportunity to make money on his tricks.

What did the Ghost Glazier look like when meeting people?

Perhaps this unusual ghost is sometimes bored by loneliness, and it is before people in different ways. There is more than one proof of communication between witnesses of "glass pogroms" and their culprit. In 1964, at the Wrocław wagon plant in Poland, the workers were preparing to send new trains to the station when an unfamiliar man appeared before them. He was called, but he smiled oddly, after which all the glass exploded in the trains. The glazier's image immediately fell through the earth.

In September 1977, not far from Petrozavodsk, an amazing creature appeared in the sky, similar to a luminous jellyfish. It emitted rays of light that penetrated the windows of houses and seemed to "cut" them into pieces. Thin rays resembling needles left fused edges in the holes, but the glass itself was cold to the touch! The phenomenon was studied by the staff of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, but the results of their research were classified. It is known that, according to the official version, all responsibility for the tricks of the Ghost Glazier was laid on ball lightning.

When the appearance of "jellyfish" was repeated in Petrozavodsk itself, the KGB launched the "Grid AN" project, designed to catch the perpetrator of hooliganism. While a special team of experts was looking for a poltergeist for the above signs, he appeared in Fryazino, where, in front of a class of 30 students, he broke windows on the second floor of the school. I had to admit that the ghost pest is elusive ...

The closest acquaintance with him took place at the engineer V. Bagrov of Tuapse. The man was left alone in his apartment when he felt the presence of a stranger near him. Turning sharply, he was horrified: some kind of vague figure floated toward the window. When her silhouette disappeared behind the curtain, there was a crackle of glass. Withdrawing the thick fabric, Bagrov saw that a hole the size of a tennis ball appeared in the window glass.

For several decades no one has heard of the Phantom Glazier, but nobody can guarantee his disappearance. Perhaps, new technologies will help to explore the holes created by him and at least partially explain their frightening otherworldly nature.
