How to get rid of moths in an apartment?

Even the most neat and clean owners sometimes have to decide how to get rid of moths in the apartment. There are many ways to solve this problem, but not all of them are equally effective.

What is the mole from?

Although by the present moment about 30 different species of butterflies are known to science, which can be called a moth, they are usually divided into two large groups: food moth - one that multiplies in food, especially she likes cereals and cereals, and moths, which lives in closets and can spoil woolen things, furs, carpets and even leather on some products.

Most often the mole is brought into the apartment from outside with this or that subject. For example, if you notice that food butterflies have started appearing in your cupboard, then in one of the recently bought packages of cereals, muesli, dried crusts, dried fruits or other products, larvae of moths were already in place, and, having got into favorable conditions, quickly began to multiply. In the package with food, larvae can get directly into the production, if the conditions of storage in the warehouse or in the store are violated. Likewise, a moth is being planted in the apartment, eating things, its larvae are brought into the apartment along with a newly acquired sweater or leather jacket, carpet or fur coat.

It can also mole "travel" from an apartment to an apartment on ventilation pipes, so it is not superfluous to find out if there are problems with these insects from neighbors, and get rid of pests together. If there is a store in the house where you live, the mole can get into the apartment and from there.

How to get rid of moths at home?

No means is more effective from food moths in an apartment than a tightly closed glass or metal can in which food is stored. If you buy cereals in bags or paper boxes, you should immediately pour their contents into tightly closed containers. If larvae already exist in the croup, they will soon become noticeable in the bank, and they will not move to other containers and the spread of moths will be avoided. When the pests are already widely spread in the cabinet with food, the following procedure should be carried out. Disassemble all food containers and discard the milled cereal or cereal mixtures. Those packages where the moth only began to divorce, you can sort and calcine the contents in the oven with the door open or warm in the microwave. After that, all the cereals should be poured into tightly closed containers, and wash the cabinet with soap and grease the joints between its parts with food vinegar.

To scare away the moth, there is a large amount of folk remedies from moths in the apartment. Among them, and all known naphthalene (which is now not recommended, since its carcinogenic effect is identified), and tobacco, and camphor. Also, the moth does not like the smells of lavender and fir. Cotton swabs soaked in these essential oils can be placed inside the covers with clothes or on the upper shelves of cabinets. Well suited for scaring off moths and dried twigs of these plants, as well as sachets in cotton sacks.

But, unfortunately, all folk remedies are only able to scare away the butterflies from your clothes and prevent them from settling in your closet. However, if the mole already spoils your things, then using such drugs you will only scare away the butterflies, but the larva and eggs will continue to live inside the clothes, and soon the moth will appear again. The only effective remedy against all the stages of development of moths has been and remains dichlorvos, which should be treated with pest-affected things and places.
