How to sew a cap for a child?

Sometimes for a matinee a child may need an unusual suit. You can search it in stores, but if there is time and desire, it is much more interesting to sew it yourself. For example, a kid can get the role of a sailor or sailor. And one of the main elements of the costume of this hero is the cap. Even that mother, who does not often sit down at the sewing machine, will be able to cope with such a task.

Necessary materials

Before sewing a cap for a child, you need to prepare the following:

• crepe-satin white;
• blue gabardine;
• tape blue satin (2 cm wide);
• threads of corresponding colors;
• application;
• tight doublet.

1. It should begin with the preparation of a pattern of cap for the child. To do this, you need to measure the circumference of the head of the future sailor. You can do this on paper. That is, cut a strip (5 cm wide) with a ring, which is put on the head of the baby and already in this way select the desired diameter. Then cut off this strip. It will be a pattern of the outskirts. Now we have to find a hat. For this, it is necessary to calculate the outer (R) and inner radius (r). They are calculated according to the following formulas:

   R = r + 7 cm

   r = L / 2 * 3.14,

   where L is the length of the strip that has already been cut from the paper.

   Now you can make a pattern. It will take 2 parts, but only one can be cut from the paper. The second one can be cut to the outside diameter.

2. From the doublerine, all the parts should be cut out, but it is necessary for the band to be folded (the strip will be about 10 cm wide).
3. On blue gabardine with the help of an iron, you need to paste that duplicate, which is designed for rushing. It is important to make the top and bottom indents of 1 cm, and on the sides about 1.5 cm.
