When buying this indispensable element of home decor sellers talk a lot about the advantages and excellent properties of the goods, but almost never remember the proper care for it. Over time, every blind owner will face the question of how to wash them.

How to wash horizontal blinds?

Horizontal blinds appeared in our homes first. Pretty practical and really indispensable in hot sunny weather, the blinds become noticeably dirty over time. There are several ways how to wash horizontal blinds:

• Pour warm water into a large basin or directly into the bathroom. Add to the water any detergent (washing powder, dishwashing liquid). Remove the blinds from the window and immerse them in soapy water. Shake them a little in water and turn. Drain the dirty water and repeat. Then just rinse under clean water from the shower. In this way, you can wash both horizontal and vertical blinds.
• The following method should be used together. Before washing the metal blinds, they must be carefully removed from the window in the open form. Carefully flip them over so that the slats are perpendicular to the bathroom. Now just wash them under a stream of warm water with a sponge and cleanser. Washing blinds in a vertical position is much more convenient.
• If you remove the blinds from the window does not work, you can clean them directly on the spot. If the blinds are located in the bedroom, most likely, the dust is not so strong enough to eat and you can use an ordinary vacuum cleaner. For these purposes, you can use a nozzle for cleaning furniture. Clear the blinds that hang in the kitchen, it will be more difficult - the dust here is often mixed with fat. How to wipe the blinds in this case? Spread a little detergent on the sponge and swipe it on both sides, then do the same with clean water.

How to wash the blinds from the fabric?

Washing vertical blinds is a little more difficult, because they need a fundamentally different approach, more careful. The material from which vertical blinds are made is antistatic and dust-repellent. But it happens that the blinds are not just covered with dust, but quite dirty. How to wash the blinds in this case? The most simple and gentle way is to give them to dry cleaners. If the price of dry cleaning is almost equal to the replacement price of the strip, you can clean the blinds yourself. But you need to understand that with each cleaning of the fabric, special impregnation will be washed off, which in time will cause the curtains to become unusable. The easiest, but quite aggressive way is to wash the strips in the washing machine. Before that, you need to disconnect them from all iron and plastic parts. Washing should be only in a gentle mode. But be prepared for that, that after such washing the material can completely lose its shape. This can happen even if the blinds are made of fairly expensive material. Before you load the laundry, you need to prepare strips. Each lamella roll into a roll, then put all the rolls in a laundry bag. It is allowed to wash the fabric blinds once a year. You can wash the blinds manually. Pre-roll all the strips into rolls, as in the previous method. Dip all rolls in a bowl with warm soapy water. Wait for a while. You can not shrink the fabric blinds. Just wait until all the dirt has dissolved. To hang fabric blinds is still wet. Clean vertical plastic blinds is much easier. It is enough to wipe them off with a cloth dampened in foam.
