And even if this seed you take from the most delicious apple, still the result will be unpredictable. Even if the apple-tree from the seed will still bear fruit, it will not be possible to taste such an apple until a few years. In addition, a tree that is grown from a seed usually grows very high, as it is not planted on a dwarfish rootstock, as it should be done with cultivated apple trees. But still, let's find out how to grow a real apple from a small seed.

Apple from the seed at home

It should be remembered that unprepared apple seeds grow much longer than, for example, cucumber or tomatoes. First of all, it is necessary to select only well-ripened brown seeds for sowing. And they should be several, so that in the process of their cultivation it is possible to reject weak and unsuitable plants. After taking out the seeds from apples, it is necessary to rinse well under running water: so will remove the substance that prevents the germination of seeds. After this, the seeds must be soaked in water for three days, changing the water daily. On the third day, the stimulant "Epin" is added to the water.

The next stage should be stratification, that is, hardening of seeds. You should start it in early January. To do this, in a small container you need to put wet sawdust or sand, place the seeds on top and put them in the refrigerator for about two months on the lower shelf. Periodically, it should be checked whether there is mold on the seeds, or maybe they have already germinated.

After the seeds are pierced, they must be landed in a box with the ground, previously drained at the bottom. Place the box on a well-lit window. As for the grown seedlings, they are planted in open soil. In hot weather, do not forget about watering plants.

Already grown up seedlings can be recognized as wild apple. It has bright green leaves, and on short shoots there are thin thorns. It is better to remove such plants immediately. Of the same seedlings, on which there are no thorns, the buds are symmetrical, the trunk is thick, and the leaves are large, a good apple tree can develop.

Before the onset of cold weather, young apples are dug from the ground and transplanted into tall pots or boxes, where there will be plenty of room for growth of the central root of the plant. Next autumn (that is, a year later), grown apple trees are planted in open ground to a new location. In this case, the central root of the tree should be turned at a right angle or pruned. Regularly water the apple tree, remove the weeds around it and stock up patience in anticipation of the first harvest. It is possible that on one tree will grow acidic small fruits. But another tree can please you tasty sweet apples.

The apple tree, which grew from the seed, is more often frost-resistant than the one from which this seed was taken. The tree grows stronger and more durable: there are cases when such apple trees survived to 80 years.
