Jacquard patterns with knitting needles

Among the craftsmen in knitting with knitting needles , the so-called jacquard patterns are very popular. They differ from ordinary not by the types of loops, but by the color of the yarn: the jacquard is, as a rule, multi-color knitting, and the rapport of the pattern repeats itself repeatedly throughout the canvas. This technique looks great winter hats, mittens and scarves, as well as sweaters, warm socks, rugs, bags and much more.

There are several popular directions in knitting jacquard patterns with knitting needles: these are simple meander ornaments and more complex variants of Norwegian patterns, images of animals, plants and geometric figures. The diagram usually indicates only the color of the pattern, and in the case of two-color knitting, the icons denote the color of the contrasting thread on a white background.

Classical jacquard, also called Norwegian, fits the facial smoothness. This means that the rows of front and back loops alternate.

At the same time, a beautiful color pattern is formed on the front side of the product, and thread pulls will be located from the back side. But there are ways of knitting and without broaching. This technique is not so laborious, and the result is worth it, so let's try to learn the basics of jacquard knitting!

Master-class "How to knit jacquard patterns without broaches"

Knitting the jacquard pattern with knitting needles, we'll look at an example of such a simple scheme.

For knitting you will need a thread of two colors (blue and yellow or other contrasting combinations). Note that the yarn should be the same in thickness and quality. Before beginning knitting, it is advisable to check whether the threads will shed, coloring each other.

Performance:

  1. We type on the spokes 23 loops plus 2 edge, so we get 25 loops. The first row is looped with the wrong loops. We use yarn of the main color - in this case blue.
  2. The last loop of the row, edge, should be tied with two strings at the same time. Subsequently, all edge loops are knitted in the same way: this will retain the tension of the yarn along the edge of the fabric and prevent it from forming into vertical broaches. Going to the next, front row, remove the edge strap. Now you have two threads in your work that you need to alternate.
  3. As you can see from the diagram, the first loop of this row should be tied with a contrasting, yellow thread. And in order not to form a broach, this thread should be seized from the other side, as if tying the blue, despite the fact that it is closer. Spray this loop and tighten both threads so that knitting maintains its density.
  4. The next loop on the pattern is blue. The thread of this color is farther from the working knitting needle than the yellow thread.
  5. To fasten this loop, draw the needle from left to right under the yellow thread, grab the blue thread and tie it. Do not forget that after each knotted loop you need to tighten the thread. When you get used to this method of knitting, hands will perform this action automatically, but this requires practice.
  6. Further all is very simple - crochet by drawing, avoiding broaches with the help of the above capture of the thread. Do not forget to tie the loop loops with threads of two colors at the same time, and you will get a dense, beautiful knitting. Here is his wrong side. As you can see, there are no constrictions.
  7. And this is the front side of the product. This pattern can decorate any knitted product - from sweater to kitchen potholders.

Also we suggest you use other jacquard patterns for knitting with knitting needles, which are created similarly to this. Their options are presented in the photo.
