Klek Peninsula

The Klek Peninsula (the name is given in honor of the village of the same name, opposite the apex of the peninsula) stands at sea on the border between two states - Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina . So far, it has not been decided who it really belongs to. Being a disputed territory, the peninsula, however, attracts tourists and local people with beautiful landscapes.

Location:

The nearest town to Kleme is Neum . In it, in 1999, a treaty was signed that assigned the right of ownership to one of the parties. However, to this day it is not being executed, which does not prevent tourists and local residents from visiting here often. Klek is in the constellation of islands of different sizes. One of them is the Croatian Peljesac.

Features

The peninsula is small. Its length is about six and a half kilometers, while the width in the widest place does not exceed 0.6 km. Officially, the peninsula is considered to be uninhabited, here stony soil, completely unadapted for agriculture. Enterprising realtors, however, do not miss the chance to sell a piece of land for quite real money, as the interest of tourists to Klek gradually grows. In the future on these sites it is planned to build cottages or campsites.

Especially it is not worth coming here, but if you want to be alone with yourself, listening to the surf and contemplating the unknown, come here at sunrise or sunset. Unusual color of the sky, somewhere on the horizon in contact with the sea surface, creates an incredible effect, which must be imprinted in memory and on the film.

How to get there?

You can take a rest on the Klek peninsula by taxi or rent a car. There are no federal routes here. Quite near is the small town of Neum (here you can drop by to buy the necessary supplies for rest). The nearest transport artery is M2.
