Kruger Park

Kruger National Park is one of the most popular places in South Africa . The reserve occupies an impressive area of 19,000 km 2 . The idea of its creation appeared at the turn of the 8th and 20th centuries, when local residents overcame the gold rush and massively killed wild animals. At the same time, a law was adopted on the bombardment of predators, since they practically destroyed the population of antelopes. Unfortunately, due to these two reasons, there are practically no animals left on the territory that the Kruger National Park currently occupies. In 1902 a reserve was established. For him, there was a territory equal to the area of Israel, so it would be superfluous to talk about the hopes that were placed on him.

What to see?

"Travel" through the park is better with a guide, as he knows not only the best trails and observation platforms, but can show you the most picturesque and unique places of the park. In addition, it is the guide for many years of work that could perfectly study the behavior of wild animals, and therefore during the tour you will be able to get to know them as close as possible.

The tour of the park begins with the Panoramic Route, which runs along the Drakensberg Mountains . Further, the group stops at the Bourke Lucke Potholes waterfall, where you can experience the diversity of the Kruger nature reserve. The next stop is at the Blade Canyon , which is the third largest in the world. This is the main attraction of South Africa, therefore visiting the Kruger park you will get the opportunity to get acquainted with one more amazing place known all over the world.

The excursion to the reserve includes a dinner cooked at the stake, which will give a small romance tour. But the guests of the park will spend the night in comfortable conditions, in a mini-hotel, which is located in the park.

In the morning you will be offered a safari on an off-road vehicle with an open top, so you can see the Big African Five (buffalo, elephant, lion, rhinoceros and leopard) at a distance of several meters and it's perfectly safe. The next night you will be offered to spend in a bungalow, so you can even more plunge into the world of wildlife.

Fauna

Kruger National Park is a home for many animals. Even the most modest estimates of the inhabitants of the park are surprising: 25,000 buffalo, 9,000 giraffes, 3,000 hippos, 2,000 lions, 11,000 elephants, 17,000 antelopes, 1,000 cheetahs, 2,000 hyenas, 5,000 white rhinoceroses. If we compare these figures with those that were 100 years ago, then the reserve becomes a unique place, thanks to which it was possible to save not only herbivores, but also predators.

How to get there?

Kruger Park is located near the town of Phalaborwa. In order to get to the National Park, you need to go along the R71. A few kilometers you will be met by the main gate Kruger.
