Maria Sharapova and Serena Williams: rivalry or mutual hatred?

Maria Sharapova started writing an autobiography, setting herself the goal of revealing the secret of her success and telling about the difficulties she had to overcome for the sake of recognition. The other day on Twitter, Mary has been published a fragment of memories relating to Serena Williams, an outstanding tennis player and a strong rival on the court. The post caused an unprecedented stir, because we are not talking about rivalry, but about Serena's hatred of the Russian athlete.

Sharapova argues that the American has been frankly hostile to her since 2004, since they were together on the court in the final of Wimbledon:

It was a difficult fight, but I won. Back in the locker room, I heard that someone was crying, it was Serena. I was embarrassed to find her in this condition, so I tried to leave as quickly as possible. But she knew that I was in the locker room and saw everything.

Serena and Maria met on the court repeatedly, proving their professionalism, Serena rightfully bears the title of the most titled tennis player, and yet:

I am often asked why Serena and I have problems on the court, because I won only twice, and she's 19! It's not about the number of games played, the answer is in the "locker room." It seems to me that then she felt her weakness and defenselessness in front of me, a young athlete, a girl, especially, who heard her cry. Later I learned that she told a common friend in her conversation that she would never lose to me, a young bitch.
