Meloksikam - injections

Meloxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that has analgesic, anti-inflammatory and mild antipyretic effect. The most effective and fast-acting is the use of Meloxicam in injections, although the drug is also available in the form of tablets and rectal suppositories.

The name of the drug, Meloxicam, corresponds to the name of its main active substance, which is a product of enolic acid and belongs to the group of oxycam.

In one ampoule, Meloxicam (1.5 ml) contains 15 mg of active ingredient, as well as auxiliary substances: meglumine, glycofurol, poloxamer 188, sodium chloride, sodium hydroxide, glycine, water for injection.

  2. With rheumatoid arthritis and osteochondrosis, Meloxicam injections are done with the maximum dosage (15 mg). A decrease in the dose to 7.5 mg is possible after switching to tablets, with positive dynamics.
  3. For patients with an increased risk of side effects and elderly patients, the recommended dose is 7.5 mg.

Side effects and overdose

When taking the drug, allergic reactions are often enough: redness, itching, rashes, less often hives and erythema. In isolated cases, a severe reaction in the form of bronchospasm and angioedema.

From the gastrointestinal tract may occur flatulence, indigestion, nausea, vomiting. In rare cases, concealed bleeding, stomatitis, gastritis and hepatitis are possible.

On the part of the hematopoietic system, with a prolonged intake of the drug, there is often a decrease in the number of red blood cells (anemia).
