Modular stairs

The owners of two-story houses and two-level apartments traditionally raise a question - what staircase to choose, so that it was stylish, solid and at the same time easy to assemble. Manufacturers have taken into account these wishes and offered customers unique modular ladders. They quickly replaced traditional wooden structures and became popular in the markets of Europe and the CIS countries. What is the peculiarity of this design and what kinds of it exist? About this below.

Principle of assembly

The basis of this design is autonomous blocks - ladder modules. Each block consists of a pair of pipes. The outer diameter of one tube corresponds to the inner diameter of the other. The length of a pipe with a small diameter is twice the length of a tube with a large diameter. Modules are successively fixed with bolts, which are screwed into special fasteners resembling nuts. Blocks in assembled form form a spine (Kosor), which becomes the basis for the ladder.

After assembly, the fence and steps are installed on the frame. It is preferable to use natural materials that are resistant to moisture, mechanical damage and scratches. It is best to use steps of walnut, oak or beech ash. They will make the construction durable and fit into any interior.

Design Advantages

Modular staircases have displaced from the market classical cast constructions because of that they possess a number of important advantages:

The lineup

At the moment, the assortment presents several types of structures, differing in material, shape and type of assembly. But the most popular types are:

  1. Wooden modular stairs . The steps of these models are made of solid wood, so they look rich and aristocratic. These stairs are ideal for both a country house and a city apartment. The color palette of the steps includes red, coffee, black and beige.
  2. Modular metal staircases . Here the basis for the steps is a high-quality metal. Metal stairs, unlike wooden ones, look strictly and concisely, that's why they are used in high-tech, techno and loft styles.
  3. Screw modular staircase. A fairly compact model for the placement of which requires a minimum of space (2-3 square meters). Thanks to this, it can be installed both in the center of the room and near the wall. Thanks to the beautiful curved railing, this staircase looks unusual and even slightly extravagant.
  4. Modular ladder "goose step" . Its main difference is an unusual form of steps, which have different widths and are attached to the frame structure in a staggered order. Thus, each step has a wide and narrow part. Wide is necessary for advancement on the stairs, and narrow - for access of the leg, standing on the previous step.
  5. Other options . These include curved structures that can have a built-in pad or special treadmills. So, with the help of U-shaped modular ladders it is possible to make a descent in bypassing obstacles, and the L-shaped ladder can be installed on a small area.

When choosing a design, be sure to take into account the criteria of the room (ceiling height, total area, room shape) and the expected load on the staircase.
