Museums of Ulyanovsk

Ulyanovsk, the regional center in Russia, by right can be called a city of museums. There are so many of them that it is not possible to visit all the galleries and expositions in one day. Let's get acquainted in absentia with the most famous of Ulyanovsk museums.

Museum of Lenin in Ulyanovsk

One of the central cultural places of the city is the memorial museum of V.I. Lenin, a local native. The museum was opened in the house of the Ulyanov family in 1923. His exhibits are devoted to the life and political activities of the great revolutionary, as well as his comrades-in-arms and opponents. In the Lenin Museum you can see copies of his manuscripts, articles, leaflets and appeals, as well as personal belongings of the famous Bolshevik. The very same situation - furniture, wallpaper, wooden floors and even flower exposition - was partially preserved or restored in its original form.

In addition, the museum dedicated to the leader of the socialist system is also in Tampere .

Fire Museum of Simbirsk-Ulyanovsk

Another unusual museum in Ulyanovsk is a fireman. It is devoted to the issues of fire safety of the present and the past. Ulyanovsk, which was previously Simbirsk, in 1864 experienced a terrible fire that destroyed virtually all the buildings of the city, including 12 churches. Since then, the locals have taken very serious measures to fire protection. The museum presents models of fire trucks, fireman's equipment, diorama "Fire of 1864", pictures "Room before and after the fire" and many other interesting exhibits.

Visit this museum is only possible with an excursion and by prior arrangement.

Ulyanovsk Museum of Photography

More recently, in 2004, a museum was opened in Ulyanovsk called "Simbirskaya Photography." Visitors can get acquainted with the history of the development of this art in Simbirsk, with the traditions of a provincial photo portrait. Among the most interesting exhibits should be highlighted old cameras and a sample of the photographic pavilion of the XIX century. There is also a room for contemporary photography, where exhibitions of local photographers are held periodically.

The very same building of the museum is in a wooden building, where since 1904 a photo studio has functioned.

It should be noted that the same attraction is among the museums of Nizhny Novgorod .

Museum of Urban Life in Ulyanovsk

The historical past of Simbirsk can be fully appreciated by visiting the museum-estate of urban life. It is a classical manor house of the late XIX century, where a middle-class family lives. In the museum you will see interiors in the Art Nouveau style, the Kuznetsk porcelain service, the grand piano of 1900 and other household items of a typical Simbirian.

No less interesting is the visit to other museums of the city of Ulyanovsk - art, local history, meteorology, ethnography, museums of folk art and protection of childhood.
