Pains the pelvis during pregnancy

The joy of a happy expectation of a baby is almost always overshadowed by the onset of pain or discomfort in various parts of the body. Including, about half of pregnant women periodically experience pains in the pelvic region, which cause them great anxiety. In this article we will tell you, under what circumstances the pelvis hurts during pregnancy, and whether this unpleasant symptom can be dangerous.

Why does the pelvis ache during pregnancy in the early and late periods?

Such unpleasant sensations can be provoked by completely natural causes, but in some cases they require obligatory detailed examination and control by the doctor.

Pain sensations in the pelvic area should alert the expectant mother, if she has recently learned about her "interesting" position. Normally, there should be no discomfort in this part of the body in the early stages of pregnancy. If a woman experiences pain in the pelvis, it can be due to one of two reasons - an increased tone of the uterus or an uneven tension in the ligaments. In both cases, there is a threat of a possible miscarriage, so the future mother should be under the strict supervision of a gynecologist.

Pains in the pelvis, which occur in the second half of pregnancy, should not cause great anxiety. As a rule, they are caused by the following, relatively innocuous reasons:

  1. Increased strain on the muscles of the back and pelvic girdle associated with the growth of the abdomen. To facilitate the condition, it is recommended to wear a bandage, as well as perform special gymnastic exercises, about which the doctor will tell you.
  2. Lack of calcium in the body. If the cause of pain lies in the deficiency of this element, it is necessary to take multivitamins for pregnant women with high calcium content, and also increase the proportion of dairy products, fish, meat, liver and fresh herbs in the daily diet.
  3. Finally, the natural softening of the tissues immediately before childbirth can contribute to increased pain in the pelvis.
