Waiting for the child is a very crucial moment, therefore, even when planning pregnancy, there is a list of specific tests that need to be given in advance. If the family decided to have a baby, then you should first consult with a doctor and be examined by both spouses. With this medical examination, the doctor must provide the following list of necessary tests when planning pregnancy :
- Analysis for infections of viral and bacterial origin, which include:
- rubella : if antibodies to the disease were not found, then you need to vaccinate and plan pregnancy not earlier than three months later;
- herpes and cytomegalovirus : tests are needed in order to prevent the appearance of these diseases during pregnancy and to determine the presence of antibodies in the blood that must protect the future baby;
- toxoplasmosis : this analysis is done to identify antibodies to the causative agent of the disease. If there are none, then you need to limit contact with animals, especially with cats. Because toxoplasmosis , which appeared during pregnancy, can greatly harm the baby (even lead to blindness). But in 90% of cases, the owners of animals have been ill with such a disease, and they have immunity, so you should not be afraid;
- chlamydia, ureaplasmosis, mycoplasmosis and gardnerellez : the presence of these diseases greatly increases the risk of miscarriage. Therefore, if they are found, it is necessary to undergo a course of treatment.
What tests should I give to pregnant women?
After registration, each future mother in the clinic is given a card. In this chart there is a list of mandatory tests that are necessary for pregnancy. Also in this card are written terms, when and what tests you need to take during pregnancy.
So, the list of mandatory tests for pregnancy:
- blood test for hepatitis, HIV, RW - helps to avoid pregnancy complications and fetal pathologies;
- a common blood test, urine and sugar levels - makes it possible to detect diabetes mellitus (if there is such a disease), as well as assess kidney function;
- a smear from the nose - helps to determine the presence of a staph infection that is dangerous for the baby's future;
