Toxicosis at 14 weeks of gestation

The main causes of toxicosis are still unknown, but the manifestations of toxicosis are associated with hormonal changes in the body and changes in water, salt, carbon, fat and protein metabolism.

Causes of toxicosis in 14 weeks

Toxicosis usually ends up to 13 weeks and nausea at week 14 is a rarity. If early toxicosis is found in more than 90% of women, then when sick at week 14 and later - this may be a consequence of other diseases. Usually a woman does not vomit at the 14th week of pregnancy, because the toxicosis ends by this date, together with the end of placenta formation.

But sometimes toxicosis can last until 18 weeks, very rarely nausea in the mornings can continue and the entire pregnancy. Factors contributing to a longer course of toxicosis are diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, including the liver, the woman's asthenic syndrome.

Degrees of toxicosis

The severity of toxicosis, including at 14 weeks of pregnancy, is determined not simply by the fact that a woman has nausea in the mornings, and how many times a day there is vomiting.

  1. For example, with the first degree of toxicosis, vomiting occurs up to 5 times a day.
  2. At the second degree - up to 10 times a day.
  3. At third - up to 25 times a day.

Also, the severity of toxicosis is determined by the general well-being of the woman and loss of weight.

  1. At the first degree the state of health is satisfactory, and the weight loss reaches up to 3 kg.
  2. At the second degree, the cardiovascular system is slightly disturbed as well as general well-being, and weight loss for 2 weeks is from 3 to 10 kg.
  3. With the third degree of toxicosis, the general state of the woman's health is poor, the pressure decreases, the body temperature may rise, the nervous system may become stalled, the kidneys fail, and the weight loss is more than 10 kg.
