Near to one of the most popular tourist cities of New Zealand - Queenstown - is the international airport. Annually, more than 700,000 people use the services of Queenstown Airport and this figure is increasing. First of all, this is due to the fact that it is located near the center of tourism, which annually visits up to a million guests, including residents of other cities of New Zealand.
general information
Surprisingly, with such a flow of passengers, the airport does not accept airplanes at night, but in 2008 the airport administration announced that the development of a new system, which involves runway lighting, began. This will increase the number of flights and unload the airport in the afternoon.
Interestingly, almost half of the flights are routes inside the country, which indicates the popularity of air transport in New Zealand. In winter, those who want to use air transport are increasing, because of the ski season, so during this period, charter flights from two airlines are additionally introduced, which for this purpose use not only small aircraft, but also Airbus A320 and Boeing 737-300 airliners.

An old private ZK-GAB airplane is suspended from the airport building's ceiling, which is one of the first to lift air from the Queenstown airport runway. It is a landmark of this place.
