February is the last, and, fortunately, the shortest month of winter. Since ancient times people have noticed how these or other natural phenomena affect the future months, summer, future harvest and people's lives. In modern life, many of them have lost their relevance, but some still help people feel their connection with nature.

This month, Maslenitsa is celebrated, an ancient Slav festival celebrating the winter and inviting the spring to come into its own. The Shrovetide week was accompanied by a folk festivities, a variety of pancakes, and the burning of a scarecrow.

In the old days, people paid much more attention than in modern times, the time of marriage. The February unions were considered strong and happy, but this only concerned the first half of the month.
