- viral diseases (herpes, tonsillitis);
- infection with mycobacteria (candidiasis);
- trauma as a result of mechanical effects on the mucous membrane (biting of the tongue, rubbing the prosthesis, burn).
If there are ulcers in the tongue, first of all you should consider the last factor - remember how you could injure the mucous membrane. It is enough to drink too hot tea, or to bite the tongue to start the inflammatory process. A sore tongue on the side can be a manifestation of several diseases. If it is white and does not cause painful sensations, it is most likely a cyst, or mycosis. In the event that you feel pain, the cause may be in one of these diseases:
- recurrent aphthous stomatitis (small painful ulcers, do not heal for a long time);
- necrotic periadenitis (painful ulcers with a raised edge, densification, infiltration);
- necrotizing gingivostomatitis (accompanied by an unpleasant odor from the mouth, it also affects the cheeks, the sky).
Sores at the root of the tongue often appear with colds, SARS and sore throats. Viral angina is especially dangerous, as it is very
- herpetic stomatitis (painful sensations absent, ulcer of grayish-white color);
- tuberculosis (typical tuberculous tubercles);
- syphilis (bleeding deep ulcers, often with clusters of blood and lymph)
- HIV (very rare).
