Milk peeling

Peeling with lactic acid belongs to the category of surface chemical peelings, when only the uppermost, keratinized layer of the epidermis is affected.

Indications and contraindications

This procedure is the most gentle, since the layer of the epidermis with a thickness of about 0.06 mm is destroyed. Exfoliation of such a thin layer will not cause damage or injuries, but it is enough to refresh your face, smooth out fine wrinkles, lighten or destroy pigment spots, have a favorable effect on acne and cause constriction of pores, decrease stretch marks, improve complexion. As one of the most mild chemical peels, milk peeling is used for people with very sensitive skin and allergies.

Contraindications to the application of this procedure are pregnancy at any stage, oncological diseases, diabetes, herpes, fungal skin lesions and any open wounds or untreated injuries.

To achieve maximum effect, milk peeling is applied by the course of 4-6 procedures, with intervals of about 14 days. Before the peeling, throughout the course, and also about two weeks after the end, direct exposure to ultraviolet radiation (not to sunburn, etc.) should be avoided. The best time for such procedures is the period from October to March, when the sun is least active.

Peeling at home

  1. The easiest way is to purchase the ready-made compound and use it in accordance with the instructions. The most mild means is "Milk Mousse" premium, containing up to 3% lactic acid. There are also more feasible options, for example, "Lactic Re-Generation 30%", where acids are already up to 30%, as the name suggests. On average, the concentration of lactic acid in finished products varies from 30 to 70%, and the drug must be selected individually, taking into account the sensitivity of the skin.
  2. Peeling yourself. For such peels, despite the fact that most resources are recommended to take 30-40% solution, it is better not to use acid in concentration above 4% to avoid skin irritations and possible burns. When carrying out peeling, the face skin is previously cleaned with lotion, and then rubbed with alcohol to remove the residual fat. Then, using gentle wipes, a tool with an acid content is applied with a cotton pad and left for a few minutes. The first time is not recommended to keep the remedy for longer than 2-3 minutes.
  3. Masks with products containing lactic acid. The simplest and most forgiving method available to everyone. To do this, you can use sour cream, yogurt and other lactic products. Apply to the face, previously cleansed with lotion, until completely dry, then gently rinse. In addition, this mask tones up the skin and increases the elasticity of the epidermis.

Basic rules and precautions after peeling

  1. Do not apply on the area around the eyes, lips, folds near the nose. At home peeling, the area for protection can be lubricated with petroleum jelly.
  2. Rinse the peeling with cold water only, as warm water after acid can cause irritation.
