The Museum "Old Bergen" is the preserved objects of architecture of the XVIII and XIX centuries, which reached us in its original form. The museum complex includes more than 40 wooden houses located in the central part of Bergen .
This city in Norway in the XIX century was considered the largest wooden city in the whole of Europe. Of course, houses and buildings have often suffered from fires: a special dense building of streets contributed to this. The image of the old center was restored, and the most dilapidated houses were replaced with similar new copies.
Most of the houses of the museum complex are painted white. Today it is a beautiful tradition, and 100 years ago it was considered an indicator of prosperity: white paint contained zinc and was much more expensive than other paints.

Museum "Old Bergen" is open for visits all year round from 8:00 to 15:30 except for the weekend. Inside the house only members of the excursion are allowed, which are held every hour. The ticket costs € 10 per person. Children under 6 years old are accompanied by an adult free of charge. The duration of the walk is 2-3 hours.
