Things needed in the maternity ward can be divided into the following groups:

• medical and non-medical documents;
• things for the mother (clothes, shoes, hygiene products, dishes);
• things for the newborn;
• money and other things - as recommended;
• mobile phone;
• medicines if they are recommended by a doctor.

Things in the hospital at a planned delivery (caesarean section) can be listed ahead of time, and in case of emergency they can be added during or after delivery.

Documents in the hospital

For admission to the hospital, a woman needs to take a number of documents with her:

• passport (your husband and if he will be present at birth);
• referral from a doctor to the hospital;
• an exchange card from the women's consultation with all the necessary tests and examinations;
• medical insurance;
• money;
• if necessary, the contact number of the attending physician.

• bathrobe (simple or warm);
• night shirts, spacious, unfastened front;
• special bras for feeding;

Things in the maternity hospital for a child

There are a number of things for the newborn that a woman will need to have with her in the hospital:

• 6-7 calico and 4-5 flannel diapers of standard size;
• 2 thin and 2 flannel caps;
• packing of diapers (for full-term children from 3 to 6 kg);
• 6-7 pieces of sliders;
• disposable diapers in the size 60x60 cm;
• wet wipes;
• 5-6 pieces of shirts - raspashonok for newborns;
• warm blouses;
• 2 pairs of socks and mittens;
• baby powder;
• wadding sticks and disks;
• medicines, including for the care of the navel - as prescribed by the doctor.

All clothing for a newborn, even a completely new one, must be pre-washed without the use of washing powders and ironed.

Of the other things that may be needed in the hospital, it is worth mentioning a bottle with a pacifier, a pacifier, a breast pump, a thermometer, a set of own bed linen in the ward.

What should not you take to the hospital?

All things and medications from your list must be agreed with the attending physician and the staff: in different maternity homes, the lists may differ. Before entering the hospital, it is advisable to go there in advance and adjust the entire list with the recommendations of this institution. Do not take too many things with you, cosmetics and products not allowed in the hospital. Things for mother and child need to be folded into separate packages, it is desirable to sign.
