Gymnastics in scoliosis

LFK or therapeutic physical culture is one of the elements of treatment of almost all diseases of the musculoskeletal system. Treatment of scoliosis also presupposes the presence of gymnastics, and exercise therapy is permissible at all stages of the disease, but is most effective at the initial stages.

Therapeutic complex

Despite the fact that gymnastics for the spine in scoliosis reduces the burden on the spine, draws it, relieves pain and tension from the muscles, strengthens the muscular corset and normalizes the posture - it can not be the only way of treatment. LFK is always combined with massage, manual therapy, as well as sports, such as swimming. Swimming is the most natural way to strengthen and improve the spine, because at the same time muscles are trained, strengthened and stretched ligaments. While in the water, the chance to get injured is reduced to the very minimum.

Selection of exercises

It must be remembered that gymnastics in scoliosis can contribute to both treatment and degeneration. Each patient has an individual picture of the disease, so each set of exercises is also individual and selected by an orthopedic doctor.

Gymnastics for correcting scoliosis consists of symmetrical and asymmetrical exercises. Only symmetrical exercises can be performed on their own, as they can do less harm if not done correctly, due to a lower load. And symmetrical exercises act differently on the muscles: clamped and incorrectly developed muscles are weaker, so that the load for them will be higher.

Asymmetric exercises are performed only under the supervision of an orthopedist or a rehabilitation physician.

Complex of exercises

We will present for you an approximate set of curative gymnastics for scoliosis. However, a truly effective complex that will be beneficial, without compromising on health and the risk of accelerating degenerative processes of the spine, can only be made by an orthopedist after examination and an x-ray of the spine.

  1. We lay down on the floor, raise our hands and feet. We begin alternately to move the limbs, the right leg + the left arm, the left leg + the right arm. We do the exercise for 1 minute. We rest for 30 seconds.
  2. IP is the same. We take in both hands on a dumbbell, we begin synchronous rises of legs and hands. We do the exercise for 1 minute, then relax for 30 seconds.
  3. IP is the same. In the hands of a dumbbell, raise your legs and parallel draw your arms to the chest with dumbbells. His arms are bent, his chest is torn from the floor. We do 1 minute and rest for 30 seconds.
  4. IP - lying on the floor, right arm extended, left - along the trunk, feet from the floor do not tear. We drag our left hand to the right, change hands, stretch our right hand to the left. We do 1 minute, rest 30 seconds.
  5. IP - lying on the floor, do not tear off the legs from the floor, hands on the nape of the lock. We tear off the head and chest from the floor. We do 1 minute, rest - 30 seconds.
  6. IP - lying on the floor, hands we place under the hip bones. We start to rise one by one, staggering like a pendulum. First, arms and chest, then feet. We continue 1 minute, we have a rest 30sec.
  7. We finish the complex in the snake's pose - hands in front of the chest, straighten them, rising and caving in the back.

Precautions

This complex contains symmetric movements that are safe in all forms of scoliosis. If it's hard for you, start doing exercises without a dumbbell, or take the lighter ones. For convenience, configure the timer for 6 approaches per minute, and 6 approaches for half a minute. This complex is also suitable for the prevention of any musculoskeletal diseases, since its implementation strengthens the muscular corset and relieves the load from the spine.

With any pain and discomfort, stop the performance of the complex. Remember, pain is a signal to stop.
