The name of this beach is clear to everyone, because Velika Plazha literally means "big beach". And not without reason it got such a name, because the beach is the widest - about 60 m, and the longest in length in Montenegro - 13 km. Its advantage is that it consists of dark volcanic sand, which heals the musculoskeletal system. So rest here is a benefit and pleasure at the same time.

Velika Plage is located in Montenegro, more precisely in its southernmost part - on the Ulitsin Riviera and belongs to the beaches of Ulcinj , to the city about 4 km. The sea near the shore seems cloudy, especially in a storm, because of really black sand. But after passing several tens of meters from the shore, you can find that the water is crystal clear.
The entrance to the water is very gentle, and therefore it warms up very quickly - here is the warmest water in Montenegro. In shallow water, kids and those who do not know how to swim like to splash. The largest influx of tourists here falls in August. However, despite all the delights of the climate, a strong wind often blows here, which raises the sand. Sometimes, when you're going to swim, you can get into a dust storm.
Infrastructure of the Great Plage
Since the beach is the largest in the country, the service here is not bad. Velika Plaža is equipped with lifesaving towers on all length, everywhere there are sun loungers and umbrellas (though paid, 5 euros for a couple). Waste containers are everywhere, cleanliness of the beach is monitored well. There are a lot of changing cabins, toilets, as well as sports grounds.
On the one hand, where the beach is located closer to the city, there are numerous cafes and shops and several hotels . From the other side it is almost wild. This place for recreation is chosen by those who like solitude.
How to get to the Great Plage?
You can get to the famous beach in two ways - by renting a car or calling a taxi, which are private or public. From the city center to the beach about 7 km.
